Project Manager – Highrise
Our client, an award-winning, construction company is seeking a superintendent to work on a major project in Oshawa, ON. (relocation offered for the right candidate)
What you will be doing:
- Provide overall management, administrative and technical direction for one or more projects
- Enforce company and project policies, main client interface, and are responsible for project performance including budget/costs, schedule, quality and overall project status
- Plan a construction project and prepare a construction schedule in conjunction with the Project Superintendent
- Co-operate fully with the Project Superintendent to get the project completed
- Process contract drawings and specifications and make ensure that the building is built in accordance with these documents
- Prepare regular, timely and accurate billings for Owners, and ensure timely payment of subcontractor billings
- Monitor in conjunction with the Project Superintendent, a project’s material and labor costs and ensure accurate quality reporting is being conducted
- Have the ability to read, interpret, analyze and forecast a project’s cost reports and determine the status of the job in terms of schedule and cost
- Be aware of unit costs and monitor and compare daily progress on site with that of the project’s estimate in conjunction with the Project Superintendent
- Conduct and efficiently manage project meetings weekly, bi-weekly or monthly as needed
- Assure compliance with project construction schedule budgets and assume responsibility for the commissioning of the project
- Ensure the implementation of the Safety Program to create a safe work environment throughout the Jobsite
- Advise senior management of potential problems, work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts
- Coordinate, manage and communicate with all subcontractors and effectively deal with problems such as delivery, labor, schedule and payment disputes
- Maintain excellent relationships with trade contractors, architects, consultants, and our clients
- Ensure comprehensive project close-out
What we’re looking for:
- Educational and experience requirements include a construction-related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
- Minimum of ten years of construction experience
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards etc. and their impact on construction projects
- Foresight to predict problems before they develop
- Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings and other documents
- Ability to assume responsibility, interface and have superior communication and interpersonal skills essential
- Enthusiasm for a challenge and new initiatives
- Proficiency in Office and Project Management software (e.g. M Office/Project)
