Project Manager – Highrise 

Our client, an award-winning, construction company is seeking a superintendent to work on a major project in Oshawa, ON. (relocation offered for the right candidate)

What you will be doing:

  • Provide overall management, administrative and technical direction for one or more projects
  • Enforce company and project policies, main client interface, and are responsible for project performance including budget/costs, schedule, quality and overall project status
  • Plan a construction project and prepare a construction schedule in conjunction with the Project Superintendent
  • Co-operate fully with the Project Superintendent to get the project completed
  • Process contract drawings and specifications and make ensure that the building is built in accordance with these documents
  • Prepare regular, timely and accurate billings for Owners, and ensure timely payment of subcontractor billings
  • Monitor in conjunction with the Project Superintendent, a project’s material and labor costs and ensure accurate quality reporting is being conducted
  • Have the ability to read, interpret, analyze and forecast a project’s cost reports and determine the status of the job in terms of schedule and cost
  • Be aware of unit costs and monitor and compare daily progress on site with that of the project’s estimate in conjunction with the Project Superintendent
  • Conduct and efficiently manage project meetings weekly, bi-weekly or monthly as needed
  • Assure compliance with project construction schedule budgets and assume responsibility for the commissioning of the project
  • Ensure the implementation of the Safety Program to create a safe work environment throughout the Jobsite
  • Advise senior management of potential problems, work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts
  • Coordinate, manage and communicate with all subcontractors and effectively deal with problems such as delivery, labor, schedule and payment disputes
  • Maintain excellent relationships with trade contractors, architects, consultants, and our clients
  • Ensure comprehensive project close-out

What we’re looking for:

  • Educational and experience requirements include a construction-related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
  • Minimum of ten years of construction experience
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards etc. and their impact on construction projects
  • Foresight to predict problems before they develop
  • Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings and other documents
  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface and have superior communication and interpersonal skills essential
  • Enthusiasm for a challenge and new initiatives
  • Proficiency in Office and Project Management software (e.g. M Office/Project)
